The students are prepared for the G.C.E. O/L Examination in the Grades 10 and 11 classes. Students in the Sinhala, Tamil and English media follow the same curriculum with the exception of the first and third languages.

Students are admitted to Grade 12 classes following the O/L examination in January (pending O/L results). The minimum requirements necessary to follow A/L courses are at least six passes at the G.C.E. O/L Examination inclusive of the first language and Mathematics 1 or 2 with at least three passes at the credit level. In addition to this the following conditions apply:
Specific Requirements
Agricultural Science Stream - a Credit Pass in Science or Mathematics
Biological Science Stream - a Credit Pass in Science or Mathematics
Physical Science Stream – a Credit Pass in Science or Mathematics
Commerce Stream - Credit passes should be obtained and at least one of those should be for Commerce & Accounts, Mathematics or Social Studies.
Arts Stream – to Follow Sinhala, Tamil, English or Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity at the G.C.E. A/L, a Credit pass for that same subject at the G.C.E. O/L is required.

Assessments
Theory Assessment
Every month, a theory test will be given and the marks are entered in the teacher’s record book. At the end of the term, the average marks of all the tests given are entered in the student’s record book.
Practical Assessments
Three practicals are assessed and marks are entered in the teacher’s record book. At the end of the term, the average marks of all the practicals are entered in the student’s record book.
Projects
Each student should complete two projects (one group project and an individual project) during his stay in A/L classes.
Attendance
- Pupils while in A/L classes should put in a minimum attendance of 80% school days as a precondition for submitting their applications for the G.C.E. A/L examination through the school.
- A minimum attendance of 80% is required for Theory Assessments.
- 80% Attendance is required for Practical Assements (Biology, Chemistry & Physics).
- Students in the Commerce and Arts streams and Students who follow Combined Mathematics should complete 80% of the Assignments they are given.
To sit for the G.C.E. A/L Examinations, the above attendance requirements would have to be satisfied and both Projects have to be submitted.
